In recent years, consumers have found overseas travel more accessible due to increased disposable income and the availability of affordable airline tickets. Various surveys conducted by INTAGE INDIA have shown that intercultural experiences from overseas travel influence consumer behavior and brand preferences. 

Therefore, in preparation for the upcoming autumn and winter festive season, we conducted a survey to explore countries people would like to visit for travel.

Overall, the top three destinations were the USA, Australia, and the UAE, but different trends were observed across different age groups.

Among middle-aged individuals aged 35 to 44, the top ten popular countries are predominantly English-speaking nations with a significant immigrant population from Commonwealth countries, especially India. In contrast, while the top contenders among those under 35 do not differ greatly, countries such as Thailand, Japan, Germany, and Turkey— which do not appear in the top ten for the middle-aged demographic—are ranked higher.

This suggests that middle-aged individuals prefer to travel to countries with strong ties to India and a large immigrant population for visiting relatives, while younger people seem to favor travel that allows them to encounter new values.

Sample size: 360 (Equally distributed by area, gender, and age)

Timing of survey: Last week of each month
